Hardy Heater in Action....

Here are 3 pictures of the Hardy heater we have while it is working.
The top picture is in full 'burn' mode with the solenoid controlled damper open and the blower forcing air in.
The second picture is after the damper has closed and the blower has shut off and the fire is going into smother mode.

The last picture shows the heater with a wisp of smoke coming out as its in smother mode, this picture is still showing a bit more smoke than normally is seen in smother mode.

So....as you can see, the Hardy produces about the same amount of smoke as a normal fireplace when in 'burn' mode, and practically no smoke in 'smother' mode.
